I'm 56. A Christian mom of four and a grandma of three (with one on the way). And oh-so- in love with my significant other. An Asian (Indonesian-Filipina) by heritage with mixed tribes (Manado, Sunda, Ambon). Immigrated to America a decade ago and pledged allegiance to become a U.S. citizen five years ago. The upbringing in the family shaped me to believe in Freedom, Respect, Honor and Unity in Diversity. Was a former flight attendant for several domestic and international airlines, based in Indonesia and the Middle East, on and off, in the course of 32 years. In the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic, I had to resigned from my full-time job as a flight attendant with the largest airline in the world due to the hardship. I had to choose voluntary leave with limited pay and unpaid, before being furloughed then recalled. But the challenges of commuting were the trigger for me to resign. To survive the daily living, I became a self-employed independent contractor doing a part-time gig using Airbnb and several food delivery platforms (GrubHub, UberEats, Postmates). Since January 2022, I became a Dasher, a food delivery driver, using DoorDash platform. As a Dasher, I get to have the freedom and flexibility to be my own boss and set my own hours. Truly, this part-time gig work is to reach my full-time dreamssss. The first-hand experience with Dashing as a Dasher. The good, the bad, the worst. It gives me an insight of a thing or two. "Food delivery driver is an essential job yet it is mostly overlooked." And so, here I am. Writing a "Dasher's Diary" in my "Diary of DoorDashPrincess". Dedicated to my Fellow Dashers, fellow food delivery driver out there. You are awesome!
