Wed, 2:18 am. This wee morning time was the time when I finally finished working on making these several pics into a collage that I compiled over the months of me Dashing and eating in the car.
Do Dashers eat in their car while they are on a Dash? Do they even have time to eat while Dashing? Can they eat while Dashing? Is it okay for a Dasher to have a meal break? Where would they eat? What do they eat?
Do Dashers eat in their car while they are on a Dash? Yes. It's where they mostly are the longest. In the car. Not at the customer's place. Not at the merchant's place. I would usually eat first at home before I leave for Dashing so I don't have to eat in the car while Dashing. If I don't make time to eat before Dashing, I would bring my food and drink to my car. Although I do treat eating in my Dash time like a meal break. Even a worker needs to eat and a break, right? Even working in an office or anywhere there is a time for a meal break. Isn't it?
Do Dashers even have time to eat while Dashing? Yeah. They can. In between Dashing or they can do Pause Dash. Because they are also their Boss. For me, if the food is a snack, I can just eat and drive. If the food that I brought from home is the main dish and kinda big meal, say, rice and a side dish, I will stop at a Dash Hotspot. Then I will put a Pause Dash. It's for 30+ minutes only. If I passed it, the Pause will end. I'm a slow eater so it's a good motivation. LOL!
Can they eat while Dashing? Yes. They can. No one can stop them. And they can always stop at any time. Me? I will eat while Dashing. It's my car and my time.
Is it okay for a Dasher to have a meal break? Oh yeah. Like any other job, Dashers have a meal break too. The difference is Dashers are their own Boss. They can decide when and where.
Where would they eat? They can eat anywhere they want. In their car, in the parking lot, at the fast food. Or, like me, I can go back home and eat at home.
What do they eat? I don't know. I know me, though. I mostly just bring snacks rather than a big meal. I like to bring chocolate. I love chocolate. I'd bring Fruit & Nut, Toblerone, or Kit Kat. It's efficient and I don't have to Pause Dash at all. If I do bring a big meal, I'd usually bring rice and a side dish like fried chicken, chicken liver or beef liver, tofu, tempe, or "abon" (shredded beef). And always with a "sambal" (chili sauce) as the dip. My Indonesian food way. But with this big meal, I have to Pause Dash. Now, there are also times when I got to eat the customer's food. Say what? How so? When the food I have to deliver to my customer slid and became unpresentable but edible. I wouldn't throw or discard the food away, now would I? It can be a pizza or nachos, And then there is a time when a Team Member gave me a donut, for free.
But then, to save money, I rarely buy food while Dashing.
