A Dasher waiting on the Food Order

What is it about a Dasher waiting on the Food Order?

Sun, 8:10 pm. It was Sunday night. Dinner Dash is a rush hour for Dashers. One of my pickup food orders was to Drake's come play restaurant. Their motto is "A restaurant that loves beer and a bar that loves food". Pretty catchy. It says they offer big burgers and the freshest sushi. I guess since I am not a beer drinker and not a sushi eater so that's why I most prob have never tried this resto before. The dine-in was pretty full, the ambiance is warm and as they say, free-wheeling. Got there and was told the food order is being prepared. It took me about 10 minutes to wait. If the wait is said to take more than 10 minutes, I as a Dasher may cancel the Dash and call Dasher Support to replace me with another Dasher but of course, I won't get the payout. I have done this cancel just one time and I had to choose the options of why I cancel.

When a Dasher is waiting on a food order, it is usually a come & go. When we do have to wait while the food is being prepared, or bagged, it won't be under 5 minutes top. Sometimes, a Dasher does have to wait for 10 minutes or more. But because there is an On-Time Performance attached to each delivery, the best thing to do is to communicate. With the customers telling them why the hold-up, report it on the platform's app where it has a list of what caused the waiting and call Dasher Support as a backup. Yep, most of the communication goes three ways. It is not as challenging to do when we do it while sitting in a restaurant or merchant. But try that while driving!
