What if Dashers have a hand condition that may hinder them from certain Dash offers such as groceries, wine, and more, but they still want to Dash?

Sat, 3:58 pm. I was at the Pickup Area in Walmart waiting for the groceries order to be handed over to me. I put my left hand on the steering wheel and saw the lump on it. I have a hand condition called a ganglion cyst.

I had it for the first time in my early 20s. About 3 decades ago. I don't remember how I got it. But I had a small surgery called aspiration. The scar is forever there. But it's not contagious or dangerous. I only know some time later if I carry or lift heavy stuff the lump will pop and gets larger. There is a non-surgical way to flatten the lump. And I used that technique several times. Now, as I was Dashing, my ganglion cyst popped again and gets larger. It's not painful but if I press it I feel uncomfortable. I can still Dash but I'm not comfortable lifting and carrying heavyweight items.

So, I reported my hand condition to my Dasher Support. I request to not get a Dash Offer on groceries, wine, and more. It's like a gamble game since I don't know the weight of the contents that I will lift and carry. It took them months before I was granted an Opt-out or Opting-out (I didn't know at that time that it was called Opt-out). But I cannot request the Opt-out to ALL groceries and wine and more. I have to be specific on which merchants. So I have to take pictures of the merchants that I want to Opt-out, email the Dasher Support, wait for the process and their investigation, get the grant, and then I will not get the Dash Offer on that specific merchants. However, as I wait for the process, I will still get the Dash Offer on that merchants; and this is to me a feedback the Dasher Support needs to document. While in process, the case or request must be put on hold, pending. Because every time I decline a Grocery Order, I will get a low Acceptance Rate!

I came across the term Opt-out from a Fellow Dasher who told me about her back problem and she requested the Opt-out. I didn't know about this Opt-out program when I started my first Dashings. If I knew, I would request the Opt-Out right out of the bet! I don't want to risk a lump to pop and getting larger, now do I?

So, what is a ganglion cyst anyway? They are lumps that most commonly develop in the wrist. They're typically round or oval and are filled with a jelly-like fluid. Ganglion cysts are noncancerous lumps that most commonly develop along the tendons or joints of the wrists or hands. They also may occur in the ankles and feet. How does it start? It starts when the fluid leaks out of a joint or tendon tunnel and forms a swelling beneath the skin. The cause of the leak is generally unknown but may be due to trauma or underlying arthritis. The size of a cyst can fluctuate and it often gets larger when using the joint for repetitive motions. So, how to prevent it? By avoiding occupational hazards and activities that can lead to joint injuries. Also, resting the wrists and fingers after long periods of exertion. And stretching the hands, wrists, and finger joints regularly. (Excerpts: Google search.)
