When Dashing and the pizza slided

What would a Dasher do when they faced a mishap while Dashing?


Sat, 4:37 pm. My mishap today is the pizza I was going to deliver to the Diner slid in the box making it unpresentable although edible. Accidentally of course. I don't remember exactly but it may be because a car in front of me abruptly turns without a blinker or I hit the brake too hard, or it can happen due to any number of reasons. But hey, mishaps do happen. When this happened to a Dasher, what should they do?


My first reaction would be... I will go back to the merchant, buy a new one, pay it with my own money, then return it to the customer (the Diner). But the Dashing way to do this is to call the Diner and tell them what happened, apologize and hear what they had to say. Do they want a refund or replacement? Then called Dasher Support. As for me, I will not receive the order's payout. Ugh! But I get to keep the pizza or I can discard it. Of course, I will not discard it. I will eat it. It's edible and clean. The rest of the pizza, I bring home.


Additional info: I called the pizza place, Papa John's Pizza, and told them what happened. One of the team members told me to drive back to them, they will replace it, and to my amazement, they told me it's on the house, free, no charge. Meaning, I get to keep my payout. I'm thankful to the team member. (I have the story in another post.)
